Twyla Ruth Mitchell, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Higginsville, Missouri, on June 26, 2025. Born on October 12, 1950, in Greeley, Colorado to Walt and Hazel Carroll, Twyla lived a life rich with family and community ties, leaving cherished memories for all who knew her.
Twyla graduated from Highland High School in Ault, Colorado, before furthering her education at Aims Community College in Greeley, where she laid the foundation for a fulfilling career. She dedicated many years to her profession as a tax preparer for H & R Block, where her meticulous nature and attention to detail earned her respect from clients and colleagues alike.
Twyla held a special place in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Stacey Daleman of Coloradao, Michelle (Dale) Sheets of Wyoming, and Joann (Larry) Schieber of Missouri, who remember her as a guiding light and an unwavering source of support. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ashley Sanchez, Nathan Bernal, James Draper, Christina Bernal, Brittney Thorpe, Christopher Draper and Caleb Schieber, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jason Frederick, Drake Abramson, Colton Berlier, Samual Ricar, Luther Bernal, Austin Bernal, Niomie Bernal, Jack Bernal, Bowen Schieber, and Charlie Thorpe. In addition to her immediate family, Twyla is survived by her sister Pat Mulherin of Washington and her brother Jim Carroll of Alaska, along with several nieces and nephews who will carry forth her memory.
Twyla experienced joy in many facets of life, particularly through her hobbies and interests. An avid reader, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends, often enjoying games that brought everyone together. Bowling was another passion of hers; she participated in numerous tournaments and earned several awards for her strategic skills and dedication.
Twyla was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Jimmy Mitchell, her granddaughter Chelsie Wilcox, her parents, Walt and Hazel Carroll and her sister Joan Ingalls.
The memory of Twyla Ruth Mitchell will forever remain alive in the stories told by her family and the many lives she touched throughout her journey. She will be remembered not just for her accomplishments but for the love she shared and the warmth she brought into the world. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who have gathered around the legacy of her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering devotion to family.
A celebration of Twyla's life will be held by the family in Colorado in the near future. Due to allergies, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
