Independence

Sharon Lorene Shinn, 74, of Iron River, Michigan, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 27, 1950, in Jackson, Michigan to Howard Wright and Dorothy Burrows.

A proud graduate of Springport High School in Springport, Michigan, Class of 1968, Sharon cherished her education and carried a lifelong commitment to learning and connection. She married Carlton Shinn, settling in Missouri, where they shared a beautiful life and raised their beloved daughter, Cheryl. Following Carlton's passing in 2008, Sharon returned to Michigan where she found love once more with Dennis Shinn, marrying in 2017 and embracing the joy of companionship.

A gentle spirit and devoted matriarch, Sharon was a kind-hearted soul who spent the majority of her life as a dedicated homemaker, nurturing her family with an unwavering love. Her personality shone through in all that she did; she was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and sweet demeanor. Her love for nature inspired her passion for adventure—whether it was joyfully feeding wild bears and deer or traveling to new places, she found beauty in the world around her. Sharon was not only a proud Navy and Army wife, embracing the unique challenges and joys of military family life, but also a steadfast supporter of her loved ones, always staying connected, cheering them on, and offering her abundant warmth, love and support.

Left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law, Sean Perrine of Independence, MO; her sisters, Barb Wright-Schwer of Jackson, MI and Charlene Myers of Stockbridge, MI; her grandchildren, Samantha (Samuel) Carey of Platte City, MO, Matthew (Lauren) Perrine of Blue Springs, MO, Ryan (Jennifer) Perrine of Wellington, MO, Griffin (Kaylee) Perrine of Lee's Summit, MO, Melissa (Herbie) Wealot of Independence, MO, and Zachary (Whitney) Perrine of Oak Grove, MO; and a cherished group of 12 great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, as well as a multitude of bonus family and friends.

Sharon joins in eternal rest her first husband, Carlton Shinn; her second husband, Dennis Shinn; her beloved daughter, Cheryl Perrine; her sisters Tammy Young and Karen Charles as well as her brothers, Leonard "Butch" Cary Jr. and Howard "Junior" Wright.

The legacy of Sharon Lorene Shinn—marked by her love, kindness, and spirited adventures—will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, whose lives she touched so deeply. Her gentle spirit will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life on September 27, 2025 to reminisce and honor the life of Sharon Lorene Shinn. Family, friends and others are welcome to reach out to the family for details.
