Peggy June Nelson

June 18, 1941 — November 17, 2025

A Celebration of Life for Peggy Nelson will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Grace Baptist Church in Lee's Summit, MO (850 SW Hwy 150).

Peggy June Nelson was born on June 18, 1941 in Texas County, Missouri to John and Lola Bradford. She was raised on the family farm in Clear Springs alongside her five sisters and six brothers. Peggy graduated from Willow Springs High School and, in 1960, married the love of her life, Gary Nelson. They were blessed with 65 wonderful years together.

Peggy and Gary made their home in Blue Springs for 58 years, where they raised their two sons, Brad and Duane Nelson. She retired early from AT&T after 28 years of dedicated service. It was through a friend at work that Peggy was invited to church, where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior -- an event that shaped the rest of her life. Peggy prayed faithfully for her family and saw much fruit from her fervent prayers. She was most recently a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church.

Peggy's family and friends were the joy of her life. She was known for showing up with a chocolate sheet cake, cobbler or pie to comfort and encourage others. Peggy loved opening her home to guests, cooking and baking, gardening, visiting on her back porch, loving her dog, painting and studying the Word of God.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and her grandchild, Deborah.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Nelson; her brother, Jack Bradford (Peggy); her sister, Betty Murfin; her sons, Brad Nelson (Kerrie) and Duane Nelson (Tabby); six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
