Martha May Rusert

Martha May Rusert (Berner), 87, of Blue Springs, MO, formerly of Sherman, MO, died peacefully Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Riverbend Heights Nursing Home in Lexington, MO. Services and burial will be held on May 6, 2025 at 12:30pm at Valor-Brown Funeral Services of Grain Valley, MO.

Martha was born December 29, 1937 in Richmond Heights, MO to William and Rose (Canavan) Berner. She was a 1955 graduate of Webster Groves High School in Webster Groves, MO. Martha married Vernon Rusert on May 5, 1956. Together they owned Toy & Hobby Dist. and other wholesale toy companies. Martha and Vernon were long time members of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, MO. She spent her final years loving her many cats.

Martha has joined the love of her life, Vernon, who she missed terribly. Her parents, her brother William Jr. and grandson Jamie preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Richard, sisters, Rosemary, Cathy and Claire, and daughters, Karen, Robyn, Susan, Trish and Jennifer, six grandchildren, Beth, Matt, Grant, Brenna, Mandy and Austin, and fifteen "great-ones".

Memorial contributions may be made to Independence Animal Hospital, 300 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050, honoring Martha's love of animals.

She will be missed by all.
