Lyal Keith Lightfoot, known fondly as Keith, passed away on August 16, 2025 at the age of 80. Born on February 25, 1945, in Kansas City, Keith was the son of William Lawrence Lightfoot and Jesse Mabel (Sapp) Lightfoot. He is remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, community and his faith.

Keith's education began at Van Horn High School in Independence, Missouri, where he graduated before embarking on a life filled with service and dedication. A proud veteran, Keith served with honor in the United States Air Force. From July 31, 1964 to May 10, 1968, during the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War, he rose to the rank of Sergeant. His service was marked by commendable bravery; he was awarded multiple accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

A devoted family man, Keith married Betty Cole on September 22, 1972. Their marriage of 35 years was marked by love and companionship before her passing. They have been reunited in Heaven, joining his parents and his brother, William Howard Lightfoot.

Throughout his professional life, Keith served as Vice President of Loans at Blue Ridge Bank. His commitment to his community extended beyond the banking world; he also served as a custodian at Maywood Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Blue Springs, reflecting his giving spirit and dedication to serving others.

A quiet man by nature, Keith was known for his organizational skills and his deep love for his family. He found joy in simplicity, enjoying a traditional breakfast of bacon, eggs and coffee every morning, and was often seen in his cowboy boots and long-sleeved shirts. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing, alongside sports which he enjoyed watching on television. A devout Southern Baptist and member of Life Connection Church, he valued the teachings of the Bible, often immersing himself in Christian literature.

Keith's memory will be held in the hearts of his daughter Cindy Beard and her husband Robert, and his nieces Dixie Cox and Jeanette Lightfoot Nickels, as well as a great-niece and a great-nephew. They, along with all who knew him, will remember him for his gentle strength, unwavering faith, and the profound impact he had on their lives.
