Lawanda Marquette Geiger, age 45, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on September 2, 2025.
Lawanda was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She had a passion for life’s simple joys, including playing dominoes and cards, caring for her plants, cooking, and spending cherished time with her friends and family. Her warm spirit, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was the beloved daughter of Charles Calhoun Sr. of Michigan and Lucille Coleman of Arkansas. Lawanda is survived by her two sons, Pharrell Hyde of the home, and Tyree Geiger of South Dakota. She also leaves behind her brother, Fred Geiger; her sisters-in-law, Nicole Hyde of Vancouver, Washington, and Tierra Hyde of Saint Robert, Missouri; and her brothers-in-law, Rudy Hyde (Carrie) of Edwardsville, Illinois, Tremain Hyde of Cahokia, Illinois, Miguel Hyde (Madeline) of Vancouver, Washington, and DaAngelo Hyde of Vancouver, Washington.
Additionally, she is survived by her father-in-law, Rudolph Hyde of East St. Louis, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Kyrra Johnson, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.
Lawanda was preceded in death by her children’s father, Darrell Hyde; her mother-in-law, Teresa Hyde; and her grandparents.
Lawanda’s life was one of love, laughter, and resilience. Although she left this world too soon, her legacy will continue in the hearts of those who loved her most.
The family will announce a memorial service at a future date.
