With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for his life, we mourn the loss of Jacob Ryan Chapman, affectionately known as Jake, who departed this world on July 1, 2026, at the age of 36. Born on October 6, 1989, Jacob’s journey illuminated countless lives, leaving behind enduring memories and a constellation of cherished relationships.

Jacob’s story is one of joy, kindness, and unyielding affection for those fortunate enough to know him. He was a son, a father, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, and, above all, a friend who could lift the spirits of any room he entered. Jake possessed a rare gift for humor, a “goofy guy” whose lightheartedness could dissolve the weight of even the gravest day. His legendary silly pranks will live on in treasured stories, summoned with a smile by those who loved him best.

To his beloved daughter, Lylah, Jake was the world. He embraced fatherhood with boundless devotion, ensuring that her heart was always full and her laughter unwavering. Lylah remains the embodiment of his truest joy and deepest pride, carrying forward the spark of his love.

Jacob’s profound connection to family was evident in every aspect of his life. He is survived by his devoted mother, Sonya Chapman, and his loving father, Steven Huckleberry. His guiding presence will be deeply missed by grandmothers Donna Plumb and Nancy Chapman, as well as his devoted sisters, Julie Huckleberry and Melissa Ori. His legacy continues through his niece, Brittany Savage, and nephews, Collin Woods, Anthony Ori, Nick Ripperger, and Mike Ripperger, each of whom carries fond memories of Jake’s warmth and playful charisma.

He is also remembered by those who went before him: his grandfathers Rex Chapman and George Wellington, and his grandmother Dee Wellington—all of whom are now reunited with him in eternal peace.

A man of many interests, Jake was most at home beneath open skies, where his love for the outdoors flourished. He delighted in riding four-wheelers and found solace tinkering under the hood of a car, an avid enthusiast whose mechanical acumen was sharpened during his studies in auto mechanics at Earl C. Clements Job Corp. Whether cheering for his favorite teams—the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Red Wings, or in the high-octane world of Nascar—Jake’s passion for sports was infectious, uniting friends and family around every big game and roaring engine.

Professionally, Jake most recently dedicated his work to golf carts, an occupation that combined his love of mechanics with his steady, reliable work ethic.

But beyond every job or interest, it was time spent with family and friends that defined Jake’s days. His laughter rang out at gatherings large and small; his presence, whether boisterous or gentle, made every moment richer.

In both life’s trials and triumphs, Jake’s essence was unwavering—steadfast, spirited, kind. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and countless memories, which will comfort and inspire those who mourn his absence.

Though we are parted from him far too soon, the joy and laughter he so freely shared will echo through the years. To know Jacob Ryan Chapman was to experience the healing power of humor and the grounding warmth of loyalty—a rare blessing indeed.

As we gather in remembrance, let us hold close the gift of Jake’s life: the enduring bonds of family and the glimmer of laughter in times of sorrow. May his memory forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved him.
