George Lewis Michaud, born on July 25, 1947 to Vital and Yvonne LeVasseur Michaud, in Portland, Maine, passed away on July 17, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. George lived a life rich in music, talent, and friendship, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
At the young age of 20, George began his career as a roadie for various show groups and musical performances, traveling extensively across the country. His early twenties brought him to the vibrant city of Las Vegas, where he took on a position at the renowned Tropicana Hotel. This initial foray into the entertainment industry led him to California, where he founded his own talent agency, a venture that he nurtured for nearly 30 years. Through this agency, George became a prominent figure in the entertainment industry and was recognized for his keen eye for talent, managing and representing various talents such as Ronnie Turso, Shawn Easton, Jay North and Sharon Benyakar.
George also held the notable position of President and CEO of Harpland Music. His passion for fostering the careers of musicians was evident in his proudest accomplishments, among which was his role as the personal manager for the acclaimed harpist Lloyd Lindroth for approximately 30 years. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the career of his close friend Jim Weinberg, an exceptionally gifted drummer from Kansas City.
Throughout his life, George valued friendship deeply. His bond with Stan Irwin, which began in Vegas in 1971, blossomed into a profound mentorship until Stan's passing in 2015.
In the later chapters of his life, George returned to the Kansas City area, but his love of the industry showed as he turned his attention toward writing and contributing to the Raytown-Brooking Eagle, the weekly paper in Raytown, with his reviews of music, restaurants, Broadway shows and a weekly column called "The Producer's Corner".
In George's own words, he was "happiest when I can help new talent, develop their skills and polish them into a bright diamond to the point where they become the important person they wish to be and enjoy the fruits of their labors! That is what makes me happy."
As George's family and friends gather to honor his legacy, his life will be celebrated during a graveside service scheduled for July 22, 2025, at Valor Park Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley, Missouri, starting at 1:00 PM.
George's journey may have come to an end, but the echoes of his laughter, mentorship, and passion for music will undoubtedly resonate in the hearts of those he touched. He is remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the warmth and kindness he offered to everyone around him.
