Floyd Lee Castlebury, 75, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and steadfast member of his community, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2026. Born on March 26, 1951, to Ivan and Florence Castlebury, Floyd’s life was marked by dedication, love, and deep connections.
Floyd served his country with honor in the US Army for two years, embodying the values of loyalty and commitment that would define his character throughout his life. Following his military service, he spent several years working in construction, a testament to his strong work ethic and skill. His passion for supporting workers and advocating for fair labor conditions led him to a role as business agent for Local Union 663. After a remarkable career dedicated to the labor community, Floyd transitioned to working for the Grain Valley School District, where he contributed ten years of service, impacting the lives of many around him.
Family was at the heart of everything Floyd did. For 44 years, he was married to his beloved wife, Kimberly, who stood by his side through life's many journeys. Together, they raised three children: Kessie of Rich Hill, MO; Jeremy of Bates City, MO, and his wife Samantha; and Tyler of Oak Grove, MO. Floyd took immense pride and joy in his large, loving family, which also includes ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Witnessing his grandchildren's sports events brought a special sparkle to his eyes, reflecting his unwavering support and encouragement.
Floyd’s warmth extended beyond his family to his beloved dogs, who brought him joy and companionship. He also treasured simple pleasures like going to the movies, embracing moments of togetherness and relaxation. These hobbies illuminated his gentle, caring nature and enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Throughout his life, Floyd Lee Castlebury was a man of integrity, kindness, and dedication. His passing leaves a profound emptiness, but the legacy of his love and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Floyd’s spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, a shining example of a life well-lived.
He is survived by his wife Kimberly, his children Kessie, Jeremy and Samantha, and Tyler, his ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Florence Castlebury. As we say goodbye, we hold close the immeasurable love he shared and the lasting impact he leaves behind.
Cremation was arranged in the care of Valor-Brown Funeral Services.
