Deniece Ann Camper

Sep 20, 1954 — Jun 21, 2026

Independence, Missouri

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Deniece Ann Camper, who departed this life on June 21, 2026, at home in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by the enduring love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 20, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, Deniece's journey was one marked by unwavering faith, boundless kindness, and a steadfast devotion to her loved ones and community.

Deniece was the beloved wife of Timothy Camper, who stood by her side for 45 years of marriage, their union beginning on June 20, 1981—a partnership grounded in support, respect, and true companionship. Together, they found joy in family, working and growing side by side, and never losing sight of the faith that anchored their lives.

Her children—Tim Camper Jr and his wife Lisa, and Shay Camper and his wife Savannah—carry forth Deniece’s legacy of empathy and strength. Deniece’s pride in her family was limitless, and her heart swelled with love for her grandchildren: Drake, Keegan, Averi, and Kasen. She delighted in each of their milestones and accomplishments, always quick to offer encouragement, tender advice, or a loving embrace.

Deniece’s devotion extended to her wider family, cherishing her role as sister to Priscilla Wheeler, aunt to Kristen Weldon and David Wheeler, and remembering with deep love her late parents Walter and Esther McIntyre, whose example of integrity and faith she so gracefully emulated.

A pillar in her community, Deniece’s career spanned an extraordinary fifty years as a grade school teacher and diagnostician at James Lewis Elementary in the Blue Springs School District. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and her gentle, insightful presence shaped countless students’ lives and left a remarkable mark on those she mentored and befriended. She began her journey in education with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Southwest Baptist College, later earning her Master of Arts in Special Education at UMKC, further equipping her to serve those most in need of understanding and patience.

Beyond her professional contributions, Deniece’s life brimmed with simple joys and quiet spirituality. She found peace in feeding and watching bluebirds and hummingbirds from her deck, marveling at the beauty of creation and savoring moments of reflection amidst nature’s wonders. A devoted Christian, Deniece was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Raytown, finding purpose and community within its fellowship. Her faith was not only her guiding light but also the source of her unwavering kindness, thoughtfulness, and selfless care for others.

Those blessed to know Deniece describe her as steadfast and stable, a gentle soul of remarkable compassion who loved her family and friends unreservedly. Her acts of care, both profound and everyday, will long be remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Deniece’s memory on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Blue Springs Christian Church, 7920 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO 64014. Family, friends, colleagues, and former students are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and give thanks for Deniece’s life—a life gracefully lived, rooted in faith and devoted to love.
